As is tradition, every day, NASA treats us to a stunning image of the universe in the “Astronomical Photo of the Day“. Today’s image (2) highlights the beautiful Fornax galaxy cluster.

In the image, you can observe a field of view where nearly all the yellowish spots represent elliptical galaxies in the Fornax Cluster. Among them, the elliptical galaxies NGC 1399 and NGC 1404 stand out, shining brightly in the lower center of the image.
Furthermore, you can spot a barred spiral galaxy, NGC 1365, in the upper right corner, which is also part of the Fornax Cluster.
This galaxy cluster is one of the closest to Earth, located at a distance of about 62 million light-years, more distant than our neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy, and the famous and populous Virgo Galaxy Cluster.
